Dana was born in California and raised as a global citizen. He traveled constantly while growing up, visiting and living in numerous countries, including rural Mexico, India, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Acquiring his first camera at the age of 12, Dana’s passion for photography has never dimmed. He studied Fine Art Photography at Arizona State University and was awarded both a Bachelor and Masters Degree with highest honors.
Dana has taught photography at Universities in both the United States and Zimbabwe, where he was the head of the Photography / Printing & Graphic Arts Department for five years. Enthused with the environment and its inhabitants, Dana is dedicated to portraying the natural world.
He founded his company, PhotoSafari in 1991, specializing in wildlife and landscape photography throughout Southern Africa. His images are used extensively by numerous African safari operators (including Wilderness Safaris) in their brochures and websites and his images are enjoyed by millions via various publications, cards, calendars and books.
