About The Scotland Trip

Scotland's Isles of Skye, Lewis and Haris are dramatic islands off of the west coast of Scotland. We will have  extremes: craggy rocks that merge with the sea and highlands with steep cliffs, as well as spires that rise above the surrounding land and sea. These Isles of Skye, Lewis and Harris combine beaches, rock formations, lochs and waterfalls all in one location. This workshop will concentrate on better image making, whether you shoot in color or in black and white. This workshop is primarily a field workshop, however when there is time (depending on weather conditions) we will also spend time going over processing workflow ideas and how it can be applied to your photography.

I have organized this workshop for those who really want to dive deeper into their own creativity, who want to explore B&W as a creative avenue and who are looking to go home with a better sense of direction with their photographs going forward. Think of this workshop as a creative retreat, where you can free yourself from collecting photographs of trophy locations and then engage with your creativity. This workshop is as much about answering the 'why' questions as much as it is about the 'how' questions. Come and join me if you want more from your photography.

It's All About Photography

This trip will be very informal and fun. I am sure we will visit a whisky distillery at some point on this trip! wink wink. I will be shooting alongside you at all times. We will have discussion and assistance on specialized topics such as, for example, depth of field, composing for black and white, long exposures with ND filters, field craft and post processing techniques. Advanced techniques will be constantly discussed, demonstrated and put into practice.

This workshop is about shooting — lots of shooting. There will be no classroom sessions, no lectures, no slide shows, and most importantly — no unnecessary egos. We will all work closely together, sharing our knowledge and experience.
