scheduled safaris

My team and I lead multiple scheduled safaris each year. Whether you’re on a trip with me or with one of our lead guides, your group is in expert hands. We have spent decades hosting groups on unforgettable African safaris. There are a lot of laughs, maybe a little nervousness around wildlife for the first time, many moments of awe and hushed wonder, and genuine happiness. My team and I are honored to bring others along to explore the majestic wilderness and beauty of this world.

Simply contact us to book one of the scheduled safaris listed below and we’ll help you take care of the rest. This is a chance for beginning and experienced photographers and curious individuals to capture moments that only happen once in a lifetime.

We offer photography-focused group safaris as well as general adventure safaris. What makes a photographic safari different from other safaris?

Our photographer’s safari features…

  • Input, suggestions and informal instruction on anything related to photography

  • Casual talks, briefings or workshops appropriate to each day’s activities

  • Flexible instruction topics to suit photographers of any skill level

  • A maximum of 1 photographer per row, ensuring adequate room for your gear

  • Luxury accommodations in safari lodges (each with full amenities, allowing you to safely store, recharge, clean and maintain your equipment)

  • Pacing that will suit everyone’s photographic needs

  • An environment conducive to learning from one another—no question is off limits, no inquiry too basic

  • A pre departure packet with safari advice as well as film and equipment recommendations

  • Destinations to the most scenic places, with the most abundant wildlife!

FAQ

Interested in going on a photographic safari?

Have you dreamed of taking the ultimate photography trip, by going on an African safari, to visit the countless and varied wildlife, combined with vivid landscapes? If asked, most photographers would tell you that an African photo safari would be their dream destination for their photographic interests. African safaris allow you to experience the wildlife up close and in their own element. I was very surprised when I first went to the Serengeti and saw just how many varieties of wildlife there are to photograph. The quantity and quality of subjects to photograph while on safari make for the richest photography on the planet. Now is the time to visit Africa.

But what if you want to go, but know absolutely *nothing* about what safari options are available? Well, here is a primer that will hopefully answer those first questions.

When are your guided safari dates?

Check our our Scheduled Safaris section for an up-to-date listing of departure dates.

What if these dates don't work for me, or perhaps I am interested in a private safari?

If you are looking at different dates, or if you are looking for a private safari, I can also assist you. I do understand that not all safaris work for everybody's timeframe or specific needs. With this in mind, I can book a private safari for you with the same amenities, guides and vehicles that I use for the safaris that I lead. Your schedule. Your specific itinerary. Your private group. I have access to the best guides, and they have worked with me extensively in the past, and know what photographers need from a safari.

do you have past traveler testimonials?

Yes! You’ll see plenty of testimonials as you explore the website. More are available upon request.

HOW do I get more information?

You can contact me at hello@andybiggs.com or fill out the contact form for more information.

why go on a photographic safari?

Our classic African safaris, whether you join one of our group departures or if we set up a safari for you, will feature all the stunning wildlife viewing opportunities that Africa has to offer. Suitable for all levels of photographic experience, these safaris will encourage you to ask questions, try out different techniques, experiment with dramatic lighting and learn from not only your leader, but from other members of your group.

One of our experienced naturalist guides will take you to explore the most beautiful safari destinations in Africa. We will travel by Land Rover and private planes and we will spend each night in comfortable safari camps or lodges. This will allow us to relax and savor our beautiful surroundings, but it will also afford us the ability to clean or recharge our gear as we go. The instruction will always be casual and flexible, taking into account everyone’s level of skill and keeping in mind that Africa and its wildlife are by definition wild and unpredictable!

what are your accommodations like?

We have three main types of accommodations on our trips: Game lodges, semi-permanent tented camps and luxury 'Classic' camps. All of our accommodations are clean, comfortable and provide private en suite bathroom facilities. On our luxury Classic camp locations, each private tent comes with beds with down comforters, private restroom facilities and a pull chain hot shower. All camping is extremely safe, and our guides and camp staff are there to please. We have cold wine and beer available out in the bush, as well as gourmet meals. On our semi-permanent and game lodge safaris the accommodations always exceed expectations with private wooden decks for mid-day relaxation, indoor and private outdoor showers (your choice!), plenty of room for unpacking, a writing desk and of course beds you would love to have in your own home.

how do I sign up?

This is the easy part. Just send me an email at hello@andybiggs.com, indicating that you are interested in one of the safari dates, and we can go from there. Or contact us with any questions at all. No questions are out of bounds. We are frequently out of the country, and we will get a proper response to you as quickly as we can.
