Things We Love: Star Beds

Imagine sleeping under the stars and in the African bush, with a dark sky, billions of galaxies above you and the quiet sound of evening. Begin the evening with a bottle of bubbly, glass of wine, gin and tonic or whatever you fancy, as the sun is setting and from your elevated suite above the ground. Perhaps a dinner served at your treehouse with candlelight? When it is time to get under the covers, you will have a hot water bottle waiting for you and the bed will be warm as you get inside. Prop up your head and look above you.  Have no fear, as you are secure and safe up above the ground.

In the morning, as the horizon begins to glow, listening to the first sounds of diurnal animals coming to life: birdsongs, the gentle wind through the trees and then the smell of that first cup of coffee or tea.

We absolutely love unique experiences and this is one of those moments you will not forget. Do you only want to sleep under the stars for a short amount of time? Some camps have their outdoor star beds close by to their main tent, making it a short walk back to your normal bed if you just want to get back indoors for the rest of the night.
